To preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ
It is our goal that the message of the gospel is clearly proclaimed and preached at the First Baptist church of Hollywood. The gospel is the foundation of the church and the source of our salvation. All our functions, decisions, activities are done on the basis of the fact that it promotes the knowledge, understanding, and application of the fact that Christ came, lived a sinless life, died an atoning death, and rose victoriously for us (1 Corinthians 15:3-4).
To faithfully participate in the ordinances of the New Testament
It is our goal to teach the church what it means to be the church. Oftentimes we have the understanding that the church is a free for all, come whenever you want to place. However, the New Testament actually taught that attendance of the church is a requirement, and the participating with one another in the ordinances of the church is a must. We are called to as Hebrews 10:25 says, to "not to neglect to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.” This includes our participating in the church especially in times of baptism and the Lord’s Table.
To guide our members to grow in Christ-likeness
It is the goal of our church to encourage one another to Christlikeness. It is the goal of Christ in us that we are gradually being conformed to His image. We know that we will only be perfectly in his image when we see Him in glory (Romans 8:28-29), however, the journey to Christlikeness begins today (Philippians 2:12-13). This is done through the teaching of the word of God as well as mutual exhortation of one another in fellowship.
To evangelize our community and the world.
It is the goal of the church to be salt and light to the world, without which, we have lost of our purpose (Matthew 5:13-16). Therefore, it is always our goal to be missional in reaching our community, friends, and neighbors, with the gospel, and to see people saved onto Christ.
